Well, you have made up your mind. You have taken your car and driven to the north of Malaga to discover any of the wine tourism proposals in La Axarquia that you can find, which are not few… And even better if it is also one of those that we offer you from our winery

You may have opted for ‘Liquid Landscapes’, to know not only our winery but also our beautiful and rugged vineyards, or for ‘Discovering the winery’ to know all our winemaking processes, or maybe you were looking for a more personalized experience and you decided for ‘Visit a la carte’… The case is that you already have your visit organized but you want to make the most of your visit to La Axarquía.

Would you like to get some tips to make your wine tourism experience in La Axarquia a great one? Take note!

What to visit?

Vélez-Málaga

A 20 minute drive from our winery, you can visit Vélez-Málaga, capital of La Axarquia, a beautiful place, proud to be one of the main cities of the ancient Nasrid kingdom, with a beautiful old town located in the highest area of the municipality between the castle hill and the Plaza de la Constitucion.

The echoes of its Moorish past can be heard in every corner with its church of San Juan Bautista of Mudejar origin or the remains of its old Hispano-Muslim wall from the 13th century that closed the medina and of which one of its four entrances, the Puerta Real, is still preserved. In addition, we also recommend that you visit the church of Santa Maria, built over the aljama mosque, and the Fortress, remains of what was one of the main Nasrid castles.

Frigiliana

Less than 40 minutes from our winery, you can enjoy one of the most famous and touristic villages of the Axarquia and the Costa del Sol, the perfect postcard of the whitewashed villages of the south with its cobbled streets and its pots of geraniums peeking out of every window.

Your visit will force you to forget the rush and worries to enjoy at a ‘slow’ pace of its narrow and steep streets, perfect for your instagram, and its museum of Naïf Art.

Hiking routes through the Sierras of Tejada, Almijara and Alhama

Somewhat further away from our winery, two hours by car, you have these famous hiking trails if you have not had enough with the visit to our vineyards.

In the Sierra de Tejeda, lovers of nature and outdoor sports, you have an incredible opportunity to go mountaineering with or without a guide. In fact, from Canillas de Aceituno or Canillas de Alhaida, there are different routes that cross the mountains, through cork oaks and junipers among which escapes a stimulating scent of wild thyme and if you are a bird lover, you should know that the mountain range is a special protection area for birds, so it is not difficult to see impressive eagles.

Beach

If your plan is to relax, we suggest you to go to the beach. Remember that we are on the Costa del Sol and everyone knows the fame of its magnificent beaches

Just half an hour drive away, you can visit Torrox, the wide beaches of Rincon de la Victoria or Nerja, the latter two municipalities with impressive natural caves to visit.

 What to eat?

If you enjoy both wine and gastronomy, in La Axarquia you have arrived to the paradise of the most gourmets.

You can not miss the fried fish in your tastings, nor the ‘paellitas’ del Ayo or monkfish soup and as for the typical dishes of the Axarquia, you have to try the goat of Canillas, fennel stew, ‘ajoblanco’, eggplants with honey cane and ‘maimones’ soup, ending with a cake of Algarrobo.

Where to eat?

And where can you taste all these wonders? Of course, in the restaurants of the area.

Among our favorites, you can go to:

Hotel Restaurante Posada del Bandolero (C. la Peseta, 29718 El Borge, Málaga). Restaurant where you can taste the typical dishes of the area as well as visit a museum about banditry..
